The team

People who are genuinely involved.

At SynapTech, you always work with a specialist — never with an account manager who passes execution on to others.

SynapTech has deliberately stayed small and agile. We work with a core team of experienced specialists who each master a clear domain, supplemented by a network of trusted external partners for projects that require it. This model ensures you always deal with someone who is genuinely and substantively involved.

Thomas Brenner

Thomas Brenner

Founder & Managing Director

Thomas studied computer science and has twenty years of experience in IT consultancy, the last decade in leadership and strategic roles. Before founding SynapTech, he was Head of IT Advisory at an international consultancy, where he was responsible for building the network infrastructure and cybersecurity practice in the Benelux. Thomas has a sharp eye for the organisational and financial aspects of IT decisions, and bridges the gap between technical teams and boardrooms.

As managing director of SynapTech, Thomas is ultimately responsible for the quality of every engagement. He is closely involved in the intake of new clients and in projects where strategic choices and technical depth must go hand in hand. Clients appreciate his direct communication, independent standpoint and ability to quickly cut through complexity.

Sanne Jansen

Sanne Jansen

Senior Consultant Network Infrastructure

Sanne has a background in electrical engineering and has grown into a specialised network architect with more than fifteen years of experience in the design and implementation of enterprise networks. She holds CCNP certification and has extensive practical experience with SD-WAN projects, zero-trust-based network segmentation and industrial network integration at manufacturing companies and logistics organisations.

Sanne is the consultant who not only draws up a network design to the finest detail, but also ensures it is actually manageable and scalable for the teams who work with it daily. Her designs always come with comprehensive documentation and are only handed over once the internal IT department has been fully brought up to speed.

Daan Vermeer

Daan Vermeer

Consultant Cybersecurity Audits & Risk Analysis

Daan studied IT management and specialised in information security, holding certifications including CISM and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor. He has extensive experience conducting technical security audits at organisations in the financial sector and healthcare — two environments with strict regulatory requirements and high sensitivity to data breaches. Daan consistently works within the frameworks of ISO 27001, NIST and CIS Controls.

Daan is the consultant who confronts an organisation with vulnerabilities that are known internally but have never been formally addressed, as well as blind spots no one has seen. His risk reports are clearly prioritised and concrete: no abstract threat landscapes, but a sharp picture of what needs to happen now and why.

Nadia Karim

Nadia Karim

Consultant Penetration Testing & Offensive Security

Nadia has a background in computer science and focused early on offensive security. After obtaining her OSCP certification, she worked for a specialised security research firm, conducting penetration tests on critical infrastructure, web applications and Active Directory environments for clients in government and financial services. She also specialises in social engineering and physical security testing.

Nadia writes her reports at two levels: technically complete for the IT department, and concise and business-oriented for management. She understands that a penetration test is only valuable if the findings are actually acted upon: her remediation steps are always concrete, realistic and tailored to the available resources of the organisation.

Elin de Vries

Elin de Vries

Consultant Security Operations & Incident Response

Elin studied information security and after graduating worked at a managed security service provider, where she was active for years in a 24/7 Security Operations Centre. She has in-depth knowledge of SIEM platforms, log review, detection logic and the setup of incident response procedures. Beyond her SOC experience, Elin has been deployed multiple times as a crisis adviser in ransomware incidents and data breaches.

Elin brings calm and methodology to situations that need it most. In acute crises, she coordinates the response, monitors communications and ensures no steps are skipped. Outside crisis moments, she helps organisations shift from a reactive to a proactive security posture — with monitoring that actually raises the alarm and procedures that hold up under pressure.

Tom de Wilde

Tom de Wilde

Consultant IT Strategy & Cloud Transition

Tom has a background in business administration and enterprise architecture and previously worked as an IT strategist at a large public institution and at an international consultancy. He has guided cloud migrations and infrastructure transitions at organisations in logistics and manufacturing, and is familiar with major cloud platforms without being ideologically tied to any one approach.

Tom is the consultant who prevents an ambitious migration from stalling halfway due to organisational obstacles, budget overruns or technical choices that turn out not to align with the broader strategy. He translates architectural principles into actionable plans with clear milestones and defined ownership.
